I'm looking to buy an earlier 90s Sidekick/Vitara because they are cheaper - then go to work upgrading it. Lifts, winch, custom welded overhead rack, and engine swap to the later engines (1.8, 2.0 FI). I want to avoid frame width problems, etc. Is my thinking wrong - should I just go ahead and buy a 1998 or later rig from the start?
