As of last week, the engine in my 92 Sidekick has an extra hole in the side of it. With 185K miles on it I guess I got my money's worth. I'm looking for a lower mileage replacement motor or a parts vehicle with a good engine. I need the 1.6L 16 valve. I guess i would also consider a good used Sidekick and just use mine as a parts vehicle as well. Any ideas? Thanks.

You've got all the right ideas... and the closer to '92... the more parts will interchange...
If your doner car has the same trans... the intake manifold might not have to be changed (vacuum ports)...also wiring to the trans and under dash is diff when comparing manuals to automatics (clutch pedal switch vs. auto shifter lockouts, lighting, ect.) and the steering column is affected (due to the cable connected to the ignition switch) on automatics.

i blew my motor on my 95 1.6 16v i belivve it was a valve problem which would mean that one piston and the valve train would be garbage.... the body and the interior are both in decent condition if you're lookin for parts it's an automatic w/ 4 wd, (jx model) and its black.... if your interested make me an offer.....
