Just a freindly request , there is alot of good advice on this board about fixing your truck. It would be nice for future uses with simular problems to be able to read through a thread and see what suggestions worked and what didn't. So when you've posted a question let us know how it turned out.....if you fixed the problem , how you fixed the problem, what advice was invaluable...ect. Thanks so much , I'm sure many users with find this very helpful! Happy posting! Lucy

well, i guess i can contribute one small thing. When i bought my sidekick the rear door ("tailgate") handle was all rusted up, and i couldn't open the thing, so what i did was disconnect the linkages to the lock, take the rod that pops the latch open, and bend it so it could be connected to the lock arm inside the door. Now i can open the rear door by putting teh key in and turning it, however now the lock mechanism is all corroded and doesnt work so well any more. When i first did this fix it worked great , and if i had stayed on top of keeping the lock lubricated, it still would

First off, hey everyone, new to board. Have a 89 japan built 2 door hardtop tracker. 8V 5 spd. having mystery probs with starting and runing. first started as random quitting whilst drivin. truck would die and fire right back up instantly. all electrical would go with engine power and start back up with engine. did that 3 or 4 times durin last week of driving. now wont even start at all. have checked all wiring to do with starting system, tried 3 different comps. tried a new throttle body and fuel pump. (yes i checked wiring behind left rear taillight for fuel pump ) have checked altenator andd battery and still nothing. im at wits end, its only got 160XXX kms and is in imaculate condition, save for the no start. i have battery power, lights and buzzers work, can hear fuel pump priming with key turn, but no crank ?? WHAT SHOULD I DO ? im ready to burn the dam,n thing, please help me

One simple solution, send me $90.00 and provide me exact number off your ECU behind the left front speaker under the dash; just so happens I think I'm looking at the actual part right now since I have collected several but I know they work and have tested them. If I'm correct I have part number 33920-60A31. It was out of a 5spd. What goes is the driver circuit inside the ECU sometimes it runs for five minutes sometimes no go ambient temperature also can play a huge factor. Whta usually kills it if by chance you have water leaks the hit the ECU or maybe at some point the moisture shield protection has been removed at some point. I will leterally bet this will solve your problem when you can no longer start it. You likely don't hear the the fuel pump run either when you first turn on the key. Do you actually hear the pump whine and priming or you just hear the click from the relay? If you run it regular and if it doesn't crank your likely needing a starter. How about $50.00 for the starter likely bunked solenois if you don't hear the click. Have you checked the small wire on the starter, signal in start key position. If you hear clunk of drive engaging ring gear but no crank check that you have normal power to evrything inlcuding headlights and all acessories if that is normal likely your connections are ok but brushes have failed in starter. You can strike the starter with a hammer if this suddenly restores cranking you know the brushes are finished 160k is not unrealistic for a starter life expectancy and likely if you are possibly on first/second battery replacement. Hope that helps, if you need parts you can email me at quietwin@mts.net

95 sidekick front injector seems to be giving too much gas to cylinder? All others ok, runs really rough. Thanks

OK Lucy, i have an issue with a 2wd side kick, wont go into reverse all of a sudden. Its a 95 very well maintained by my wife for 20 years. not sure if its the fluids, or the clutch. seems strange for reverse to go out like that. Got any ideas why this has happened? thank you for your input in advance. doitself

Hello new member here and new with sidekicks. So my wife has a 95 side 2wd hard top. Just this morning; after she worked all night , she tells me the sidekick wont go into reverse? Hmmm that sounds strange, all the other gears work?! So before I start tearing into this blindly, I thought I should go to the people who know sidekicks. So please educate me so i do a good job for my lady!!!!!! while saving $$$$$$, by not going to a shop. thank you very much. respectfully Anthony AKA doitself
