NEW TO THIS FORUM.
Well I am the original owner of my 94 4dr 4wd Suzuki Sidekick JX. This zuk has been very good to me. Ive taken it all over the country and even over seas (Im military) snow, mud, rocky trails on culebra island Puerto Rico and thru some extremely mudy rain forest. I love my zuk I have done 90% of the work on it myself over the years. I found this site because I have a oil leak coming from the the upper gasket on the engine and have never removed the head before. so im looking for answers and any help is appreciated.
Anyway cool site, I look forward to reading your post (once i figure how to fix my head gasket)!!!!

hello cgace i saw your post re:high mileage and am extremely impressed! i have no idea how many miles are on my "89, but it must be more than the 58000 showing on the odometer. it sounds like you know your way around under the hood, so i'm sure you will have no problem replacing a head gasket. i was wondering where the oil was coming from- front/back, near distributor, or? if not leaking coolant or compression, it would just be an annoyance for sure, but mabe not economical to repair yet. might want to wait for next major service? (timing belt or such). also line up machine shop for servicing the head when it's off? just some thoughts- i do all my own service(hobby)

Hey thanks for the reply,
I have 140, 000 miles on mine.
Its not leaking coolant.
Im no Mechanic but if I can save a buck and do it myself I will. I have plenty of tools and a big garage.
the leak is mostly from the rear of the head gasket, but it is slowly oozing out of the entire head.
Forgot to mention. This all started after I put Techron in the engine, the stuff works great, and removes gunk from engine well.
Which leads me to believe that Gunk was the only thing keeping the Gasket from leaking and I had never used it before on the suzuki.
Anyway how hard is it to remove the intake manifold, and head gasket?
Is there anything else I should replace?
I have been trying to get rid of a check engine light for 6 years, I think I need to change the gas filter and egr valve (just need to find them).
Frankly I love my little truck and probably should of taken better care of it.
