tracker4x4 i made my laptop mount. a friend gave me a video camera steady cam mount thing (like a newsman might use?) that would clamp on your shoulder. i clamp it on the hump between the seats. i made a bracket to hold my laptop that attaches the same way a camera would. it works for all but real radical stuff- i use a deluo reciever and have topo usa software and microsoft streets/trips. i'm not clear on how to post a picture, but i have one. note that the ones i've seen in police use are the way to go. expensive though.

Hi everyone, Trackers and sidekicks and all their variations are just the most awesome little 4x4s out there. Thats what i love about my '96 2 door, 5 speed, soft top. Nothing beats the look on a jeepers face when you just walked over something his truck couldn't even think about. I'm just a student, so doing it with the very limited pocket book is important too, and they sure do fit the bill. Happy wheelin' to alla yall out there, and enjoy those Track/ Kicks!

Hi, I'm Jim from Sydney Australia and I've got a 91 "vitara" as we call em down here. Its a soft top manual and it is the second one I have owned in my life, and I love it.

Hello from the desert! I had a Sami for a year and now have an '89 Sidekick 2-door soft top with a lift. Must fix a couple more things to trust it to go to the wilderness, but expect to really like it.

Greetings folks from Washington state. Able bodied, energetic, hunter and retiree looking to go where the elk are and other hunters are not. Not a "jumper" or a "swimmer" but strictkly functunally oriented. My inclination is to buy my first (and keep it probably, untill I die and pass it on to a son) Sidekick or Tracker. Over time, I'll add a good front bar with winch, and probbably a little lift. I'll carry extra fuel, and survival gear - and hopefully will see only 4 legged animals - no other humans. I'll also occasionally pull my 1991 Bass Tracker, 17 foot, aluminum boat to the boat ramp, harvest Walleye and bring them and the boat back home to momma.
Q. What year/model do you guys recommend? I know that in 98 or so there was the 1.8 l. Should I concentrate my search for those with the 1.8 - or don't worry about it. I'm an old school guy who used to wash the inside of my trucks with a bucket of soapy water and a garden hose - so I'm not interested in leather and carpet. Cowboy seat covers are just fine.

Hi all; Greetings from Elko-the halfway point through the vast uncharted wilderness that lies between Salt Lake City,Utah and Reno,Nevada. I'm known as Speed on the other boards I frequent (BigMackTrucks,Old GMC Trucks,Stovebolt). As yet I don't own a Sidekick, but my sister and a friend of mine do,and I've been delegated to be the lead mechanic on 'em. My sisters is a '97 with an automatic;she bought it new and LOVES it. ;D So far it's been trouble free, excepting the hubs being a little "skitchy" to lock in,but I pulled 'em apart and buffed the sharp edges off the splines and gear teeth so they'd engage easier, and I've replaced the battery once. My friend Pat's Sidekick is a '92 with a 5 speed, and it'll need quite a bit of work. It runs well, and the drivetrain is not in bad shape, but I had to replace the fuel pump when he first got it,and it has a grenaded dash panel-the idiot lights work, but none of the gauges work, and the turn signals don't work. I'm working on the signals, and we're looking for a parts car to get a good dash cluster and a couple of doors. Not too worried yet. I signed on here mostly to check out known issues and see what other owners have discovered to keep these rigs rolling. BTW-my sister's Sidekick has a lot of brake squeal but plenty of lining left;does anyone out there know of some better brake pads that might be quieter? there's a LOT of dirt and dust out here in the wilds of Northern Nevada,so I'm chalking most of the noise up to dust. Sorry-this probably isn't the place to get into the mechanical end of this stuff. I'm 54 years of age,and I'm in Elko,Nevada. I've done a little bit of about every kind of job there is,and am "retired" now(SSDI-brittle diabetic, asthma, emphysems),leaving more time to help my friends keep their vehicles running and squeeze in as much saddle time on my Harley as possible. As you might have guessed,I seem so collect old trucks;currently my stable includes a 1945 Mack EH,1957-1958 mixed GMC half ton pick up,a 1957 GMC short nose dump/flatbed,currently awaiting an engine,1966 Pontiac Catalina waiting for the front group to be replaced,1973 Ford F-250 currently for sale,my daily driver is a 1974 Chevy one ton duallie flatbed named "Mad Max" (long story),my 1979 Harley FLH-93,a 1980 Datsun 210 currently for sale,a 1985 Bronco II needing a new clutch and a little body work, lets see-I know I'm forgetting something...OH,YEAH-I'm a gearhead. Speed

Hey Minibeast, Are you involved if I understand correctly with the refit program to repower to track final drive? If so you have any pictures you could send or post for that matter. I have heard about this project very recently and I'm wondering if it's the same thing. Concept is actually sick but being a canuck on the prairies everything here is going track drive including all our atv's. This is a very curious aspect I and probably a few others would be interested in knowing more and maybe seeing some images.

Howdy from Texas. Just purchased a 1990 sidekick that I am rebuilding for my son. Never owned a Suzuki but it seems to be a fun little ride. Bought it off an old farmer who used it to herd his cattle so its a little rough. Looking foreward to getting it on the road to the coast to do some fishing.
