My "94 Geo Tracker 1.6 liter is giving me poor fuel economy. 22 mpg now. It used to give me more like 30 -32 mpg. I have cleaned the throttle body (very dirty), replaced plugs and air filter and have been adding injector cleaner every 3-4 tanks. I am wondering if there is something else that I can do to increase economy?? I am also experiencing low air flow to my defroster vents. Fan is very strong on other settings. Can't seem to access defroster ducts to check for mouse nest or other blockage?? Any suggestions for these problems will be appreciated!

You can try cleaning out your EGR valve, if you need instructions just lemme know as for your vents , does sound like a clog or maybe a disconnect (less likely) ...you could try getting a crevice tool down the vents on a shop vac if you have one....might be able to clear it. Other wise you basically have to pull the dash to get at the vent tubes...total pain in the ass...but so is a frosted up wind shield, all in how you look at it I suppose!

Thanks about the EGR valve. I looked it up in my manual and I Think I can handle it. Most appreciated. The defroser. I guess I should have tackled it this past summer. Winter here now in southern British Columbia.

I feel your pain ! we are starting to freeze over here in Ontario as well Just remembered a couple tips to add about the EGR....best way to clean it out is to either use a dremel tool with a small stone , wire brush or heavy grit sand paper attachment or if you can get it soak it in a product called seafoam (think you can get it at some canadian tire stores) ,also don't forget to clean out the ports in the block as well! Good luck and feel free to ask if you need anymore help
