As much as it pains my wife and I, we have to sell the 1991 Sidekick. I want to keep it and get it going ,but we don’t have the room, or the know how. Its white with a black removable hard top. 2 Door Automatic. The brakes were serviced last spring along with the hubs. I believe the reason for it not running is the ECM but since I am not a mechanic I don’t know for sure. Its has 320,000 kms and passed emissions in Sept of 2004. The certificate for the emissions test is valid until Sept. 2005. The battery has been drained down as a result of trying to get it going. The engine does turn over but wont fire up. It has been rust proofed in the past but it does have rust. Asking $750 or best offer.

hi g8r: sorry to hear that you have to part with your sidekick just a note, maybe as a last resort you can pick up a used ecm from a scrapyard (hopefully for cheap) and see if that helps. also, i will send you how to check for codes and hopefully that will tell you if the ecm is pooched or not. 94box

Thanks. I am gonna keep looking on ebay for an ecm until I sell it. The wreckers want around $350 around here, so I dont think thats worth the risk buying from them. If I only had a friend with a traker/sidekick withthe same ECM I decided to see if my ECM would give me any codes like you suggested. It gave me code 42. Crank Angle Sensor. Apparently this is what I have to do now: Check for faulty connector to circuit, Check for improper gap in the distributor, Replace (pick-up assy.) if needed But I also read somewhere this code could also be the result of a faulty ECM

Well its still available. It appears its not the ECM as I have tested it with a working one. Also included are a set of tires on rims. One set are TOYO snow tires and the other a CDN Tire brand.
