the vehicle is a 93 sidekick four door. i've been stumped for a month on this one. it will stall if the rpms dip to low (which they do from time to time because it lopes) and then refuse to start again for anywhere from five minutes to days. after i get it started again, it may stall immediately or run fine for a month. Fuel pump and filter are new... distributor cap, rotor button, plug wires and plugs are all new.... ignition coil is working, air filter is not gummed up... O2 sensor is probably bad as the check engine light has been on for a while, but i don't know how much that would effect starting.

Well, if it wasn't for the fact it didn't start for days. The rest of the description fit my problem. My 92 16 valvue would stall at low rpms. Wouldn't start, then start, Then work fine, then check engine light would go off, then come back on. All because of the o2 sensor. I don't know if your truck is like mine but the wires for the fuel injectors would run along block. Then they would rub up against the block and cause my truck not to start. Like a bad fuel pump. Luckly my problem was easy to find since it keeped blowing the fuel injector fuse. Plus when I jiggled the wires comming down from the firewall heading up to the injectors it would start. One day I jumped the connector after being annoyed at it and saw smoke. So I traced all the wires out and found them right up against the block. Also caused the tempurature gauge to flip all over the place. Also a remote chance but one that can cause a problem is the plenum chamber would get dirty. Not sure of spelling on that word. Once again this was only for stalling. But it would still start after a few tries.
Hope this helps. Since all of this is pretty easy to check except for the plenum chamber and I would leave that for last.
