Auto trans lockout switch question

Hi; I have a '98 Sidekick (actually, it's a Tracker, but same thing). I appear to be having problems with the auto trans lockout switch in that it thinks I'm in Drive or Reverse when I'm trying to start the vehicle. This vehicle is not used on the road; it's basically an ATV at my tree farm but it's on constant use and is necessary for my business. Does anyone know where the switch is? I'd like to just bypass it, as the vehicle is not used on the road. Thanks. Tim

do you mean the ''break switch'' that allow you to pass from park to reverse ? If yes , its simple : it's under the ''shifter'' driver side , if you remove it , you will be able to switch from park to reverse without touching the brake
