Here is a Replay, of one of my earlier... (actually a repost of a repost)
ON USING MANUAL AXLES WITH AN AUTOMATIC TRANS That sounds right, sheddy, one turn of a 32' tall tire = 100+ inches down the road... while the stock tire is 26.25" and it goes only 82+ inches for the same revolution of the axle... an obvious difference of about 18%
If y'all remember, I had a post a while back on switching the axle housings on an automatic model (most are 4.62) for ones out of a 5 speed (most should be 5.125). This puts your speedometer back in the ball park and it also gets your final drive ratio back to factory (which is why I advised bikemon to mix his parts since he already had them...)
Its cheaper than you'd think... on front, swap the whole housing... then you have one to sell or keep for spare parts... on the rear, swap the chunk or the whole axle to 5.125 to 1...

Well I'm sorry to hear that. Looking back at your postings... I didn't see any mention of yours being a four door... though the four speed trans, you referred to... in this thread... should have tipped us off... I've asked for members to HELP me compile as many of the differences as possible between 2 and 4 door models... often assumed, by innocent owners, as being the same... and this time you got hurt... and for that, I am truely sorry... The gaskets, the oil, the time, the money...
This is the first instance of a member having the 5.125's in an automatic (and 4 speeds=4 doors, cause the 2 doors thru '96 only use 3 speeds) that I'm aware of... Could be because of the fourth gear in the automatic as overdrive... coupled with the added weight of the four door...
Or could be because it was already changed (did your's already have tires larger than stock ??)
You should check the front (its possible that the rear got swapped already... without any awareness of different axle ratios existing...)
To check the ratios... in the car... raise one wheel...make a mark on the tire...rotate the mark TWO revolutions... while counting the full rotations and plus the partial rotation of the driveshaft... An example would be... the 4.62 to 1 axle ratio should rotate the driveshaft about four an a half+ times.
For readers with cars (not likely Suzuki's) that have a locking rear axle you, of course, have to turn both back wheels one turn while making sure both wheels "got turned" the exact single revolution...
Reading your first post... It sounded like you needed a lower axle ratio to resolve your problems... but since its already as low as you can go without aftermarket...
To fix your problem with the speedometer and odometer... just get a speedometer drive gear from a 2door automatic (3 speed...gear designed for 4.62's) and put it in uour transfer case...
As for shift points... I don't know how to alter them... but Its seems possible...
