Hi all a yall zukers.
Ive got a 96 2 door that I am gonna be putting a lift on here soon, I was thinking about the calmini 3 inch kit, with a 1.5 inch spacer on top. That would give me about 4.5 inches of total lift. the only thing that Im not sure about yet is what size tire I can run under it. Right now its on some 235/75 R15s (about a 28 inch tire), I was thinking about 30x9.5 mudders. I dont want to have to deal with rub problems, and Im not ready to trim the fenders very much. this is the first of many mods to come.
So what do yall think, How big can I get With 4.5 inches of lift?

Me thinks you rims are 16" on 96 and better way to go. I like about 33"- 35" on 16" rims. If you have 1.8 engine it should handle it fine but likely you may have to do some diff reconfiguration.
I could check ratio on the OEM but you will definately have to have speedometer recalibrated!

I am running a 3 inch suspension lift "old man emu" and a 2 inch body lift. I have 31" Wrangler MTRs on 15" rims for daily and trail ridding. I only rub when I'm fully flexed and turn a corner. By the way, I threw away my sway bars a long time ago, I just take my corners a little slower now! When I'm playing in the Michigan Mudd pitts, I put on my 33" boggers. I don't even want to tell you how much those rub!

im running a 2" coil spacer kit and have 31x10.5x15 mud terains on it no rub issues. just hits the frame a bit when i turn to full lock. but other than that no problems. go to an offroad store and get a set of **** cherokee front coil spacers, 2 pairs. they fit the spring diameter perfectly but u need to take the hole saw and bore the center out to 2.25" from the 2" that they are. take your strut top off the strut and flip it over and reinstall. it gives you enough lift for decent wheeling fun. and only costs about $100 canadian. and about 2 hours working.
let me know i can send some diagrams of how to do it all.

Sounds too easy! I've been looking at kits but by the time they get to Canada they are going to be at least $200.
So inverting the strut top would be the same as a "strut spacer"?
Some diagrams would be great if you have em. This the first main mod as I'm wanting 29"-30" wheels for exploring.
Thanks in adv

OOPS! One more question/detail. I have a 97 Tracker 4dr. Will your mod work on that config?

I run 235-75-r15 (29") tall tires with 1st gen Explorer front springs, homemade strut spacers, honda accord rear springs @ Ford E150 shocks. That setup has given me 3" of lift for around $150. rides good ...springs rub a bit at full steer.
